Junior Quantity Surveyor

Overview
We are recruiting for a Junior Quantity Surveyor or similar Construction Student to join our Quantity Surveying Department. 
The role will be assisting with the Commercial Management of our Social Housing Maintenance Contracts, including site remeasurement, preparation and submitting costs for individual works orders ranging from reactive works through to large planned maintenance projects.  Opportunities will also be given to work across other contracts and departments to give exposure to various elements, aid Continuous Personnel Development and career progression.
We are seeking an ambitious and target driven individual who will relish working in a fast paced and challenged environment who can ensure that commercial and contractual targets are being achieved.
Successful candidates will be provided with a structed, mentored training programme and afforded the opportunity for excellent career development supported by the Commercial Manager.

Desirable Criteria:
  • Enrolling, currently studying or completed a Foundation degree or similar in Quantity Surveying or similar related construction course.
  • Consideration will also be given to candidates who can demonstrate relevant technical and practical experience who may not have the academic qualifications.
  • Commercially and Operationally aware on delivery of works.
  • Understanding of Construction management practices.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also use own initiative to complete tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic and result driven.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
Job Description:
  • Assist in the preparation of Cost Value Reconciliation reports.
  • Remeasurement of works on site.
  • Ensuring measurement and submission of works to client is accurately and audit ably measured in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Cost control of all works in line with Operations managers and Supervisors ensuring works are being delivered effectively and within contractual SLA’s.
  • Ensure accurate records of works are being maintained and submitted to client while ensuring transparency and availability for audit.
  • Work in accordance with strict client KPI’s particularly Time and Quality.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
  • Assist with the taking off of quantities for tendering.
  • Ensure contract administration and valuation of works is in accordance with Main contract while achieving business commercial delivery.
  • Assist in the Procuring and managing of subcontractor delivery.
  • Build strong client and supply chain relationships by working in a collaborative manner ensuring repeat business and service.
  • Carry out site surveys ensuring accuracy of measurement and quality of work is in line with Service Level Agreements.
  • As required working across company departments.
