Ballyclare War Memorial

CFM were appointed as Principal Contractor by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council to undertake the sensitive works within the Ballyclare War Memorial Park in which is set an Obelisk on a plinth and tapering base with three stones of remembrance to the rear. The memorial honours the dead from the 2 World Wars and the names are listed on the plinth and base.

Over time the original paved surface surrounding the Obelisk had become damaged and uneven and the works required the careful removal of over 225m² of paving slabs, ground preparation for a new resin bound pavement (including associated drainage works) and laying of the resin bound material.
To preserve the environment and reduce the risk of any damage to the memorial (and original wrought iron entrance gates) much of the excavation and formation work was completed by hand with only specialist small plant permitted to assist where necessary and operated within strict exclusion zones.
