Job Title: Estimator
Reporting To: Head of Contracts
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent
Location: Castledawson 
Hours of Work: Mon to Fri 08:00 - 17:00

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Head of Contracts, this role is responsible for the procurement, budgeting and commercial delivery of Projects, including tendering and valuation of works, ensuring that commercial and contractual targets are achieved.  The role will be responsible for the estimating and tender bid price preparation of targeted projects and provide advice to the team, track and maintain commercial information and ensure contract compliance.  The role will also be required to commercially manage a profile of work and ensure the projects are delivered within budget and on programme.
The role offers diversity across different contract types from refurbishment to new build and offers excellent career development opportunities supported by the Head of Contracts.

Key Activities / Responsibilities:

• Estimating and Tender bid price preparation
• Gathering and maintaining supply chain and costs data base
• Take off quantities and costing proposals
• Procurement, negotiation, and cost management of Subcontractor packages.
• Preparation of project costs and budgets, advising operations teams
• Identifying and reporting on risks within tender documents
• Assist with tender bid quality submissions
• Operational and commercial management of Projects
• Preparation and submission of interim valuations and Final Account submissions
• Preparation, costing and submission of Early Warning and Compensation Event Notifications in line with NEC contract requirements
• Ensure detailed records are recorded and maintained, that are auditable and available for submission in a timely manner
• Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships by working in collaborate manner
• Ensure effective communication between the commercial and operational teams.
• As and when required provide support across Company departments.

Education / Experience:

Essential Criteria
• BSC (Hons), HND, or similar in Construction related field.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Estimating and Tender bid preparation experience
• Commercially and operationally aware on delivery of works.
• Strong commercial attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of sub-contractor management.
• Experience operating within a fast-paced construction industry.

Desirable Criteria:
• Experience of NEC suite of contracts.
• Experience of Public sector and housing contracts.

Skills / Competencies:
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines.
• Enthusiastic and result driven with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong planning and organisation skills with good problem-solving skills.
• IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
