Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Reporting to: Head of Contracts
Location: Magherafelt Area

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Contracts, you will be responsible for the procurement, commercial delivery, and contractual management of Projects, including tendering, remeasurement and valuation of works, ensuring that commercial and contractual targets are achieved.  You will be responsible for the estimating and tender bid price preparation of targeted projects.  You will provide advice to the team, track and maintain commercial information and ensure contract compliance.  You will be required to commercially manage a profile of work and ensure the projects are delivered within budget and on programme.

As Senior QS in CFM you will be responsible for:

• Operational and commercial management of Projects.
• Preparation, costing and submission of Early Warning and Compensation Event Notifications in line with NEC contract requirements.
• Estimating and Tender bid price preparation.
• Preparation and submission of interim valuations and Final Account submissions.
• Procurement, negotiation, and cost management of Subcontractor packages.
• Management of the QS team in line with targets and ensuring timelines are met.
• Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships by working in collaborate manner.
• Setting and analysis of budgets and closely monitoring throughout to ensure project targets are achieved.
• Provide contractual and cost advise.
• Auditing projects to ensure contract compliance and commercial targets have been achieved.
• Ensure accurate records of works are recorded and maintained, that are auditable and available for submission in a timely manner.
• Preparation and presentation of accurate Work in Progress and Cost Value Reconciliation reports.
• Identify and manage commercial risks.
Investigate, negotiate and resolve contractual disputes and claims.
• Ensure effective communication between the commercial and operational teams.
• Provide support and mentoring to manage junior staff.
• As and when required provide support across Company departments.

What you'll need to succeed:

Education / Experience:

Essential Criteria
• BSC (Hons), HND, or similar in Construction related field.
• 8+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Commercially and operationally aware on delivery of works.
• Strong commercial attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of sub-contractor management.
• Experience operating within a fast-paced construction industry.

Desirable Criteria:
• Experience of NEC suite of contracts.
• Experience of MTC contracts and Schedule of Rates.
• Experience of Public sector social housing contracts.

Skills / Competencies:
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines.
• Enthusiastic and result driven with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong planning and organisation skills with good problem-solving skills.
• IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
